Throughout the year, you have endless opportunities to come and see Moab for the first or tenth time. Moab is the ideal destination for thrill seekers everywhere. However, if we had to pick a best time of year to visit it would instantly be the fall season. During the later time of the year, you will find that Moab has become much more comfortable for the outdoors while still offering all of the adventures you could want. Here is why you want to visit in the fall:
Cooler Temperatures, Same Moab
When you make your way to Moab, you probably have an idea on spending the most time possible outdoors. Moab is known for our incredible national parks that offer miles upon miles to explore. It can be tricky to explore the outdoors in Moab during the middle of summer as the temperatures skyrocket, especially after the summer we have been enduring. If you are traveling with kids, you know it is not possible to keep them out in the sun all day. Luckily, the fall season in Moab offers cooler temps typically in the 70s. This makes it ideal for some outdoor adventures.
Full Availability in the Parks
Moab is typically busier during holiday weekends and breaks from school. While the fall does offer these vacation weekends it is also a slower time for travel across the board. You will have more opportunities to fully explore Canyonlands or the Arches National Park during your stay. The Colorado River will have warmed up over the summer making it a perfect temperature for some white water rafting or tubing. Mountain bikers will also want to take advantage of the cooler temps on the Whole Enchilada Trail.
Moab also features a variety of fall events that are perfect for the whole family. You cannot miss out on the Celtic Festival and Moab Folk Festival right here in the area. You will learn all about these historic traditions along with great music and food. The Moab ArtWalk happens every month in the fall where you can enjoy a walk through downtown Moab checking out local artists.
